The Illini Statesmen took their contest package to the Illinois District Spring Contest, bright and early on the morning of April 21, 2007. Fifteen choruses from around the state were competing under the newly inaugurated district rules to be named District Champion. The Statesmen performed Stars Fell on Alabama and The Birth of the Blues to beat out ten other choruses, coming in 5th overall and winning the Plateau 4A award. Topping the Statesmen were (in order) Bloomington's Sound of Illinois, Lake County's Brotherhood of Harmony, Chicagoland West's West Towns Chorus, and coming in first Northbrook's New Tradition.
The Statesmen were pleased to have three of four members of Roundabout join them on stage for their contest performance. Roundabout competed in the collegiate division, coming in second.
You can find the complete scores on the district website. Congratulations all around!
